India was re-elected to the UN Commission on International Trade Law UNCITRAL

            India maintained its 100 % record of winning elections held in the United Nations Headquarters at New York.  India was re-elected to the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) for another six year term 2016-2022, at the election held today, 9 November 2015, in the United Nations General Assembly. 

           

            With India's re-election today, it would continue to play a constructive role in the UNCITRAL which is recognized as the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law.  A legal body with universal membership specializing in commercial law reform worldwide for over 40 years, UNCITRAL's business is the modernization and harmonization of rules on international business.

 

            India, as a member, has been playing an active role in the UN legal bodies which include International Court of Justice (ICJ), International law Commission (ILC), International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) and UNCITRAL.
